학회 내 자격과정 개설·운영 총괄… “현장 재현 가능한 자격 체계로 전문성 표준화”
국제통합테라피학회(International Association of Integrative Therapy, IAIT)가 학회 내 자격과정 개설 지원과 운영 전반을 총괄하는 자격위원장에 부산 ‘임은주쁘라나요가’ 임은주 원장을 위촉했다. 자격위원장은 학회가 운영하는 각 분야 자격과정의 개설 절차, 커리큘럼 설계 지원, 운영 기준 정비, 교육 품질 관리, 평가·검정 체계 점검까지 아우르는 핵심 직책이다. 학회가 ‘근거 기반 통합테라피’의 표준화를 강화하는 흐름 속에서, 자격 체계를 실무적으로 설계·관리할 컨트롤타워를 전면에 세운 인사로 해석된다.
취재 결과 IAIT는 최근 몇 년간 테라피 분야에서 반복되어 온 문제—즉, “좋은 기법이 있지만 표준이 없고, 표준이 없으니 신뢰가 축적되지 않는 구조”를 학회 운영 차원에서 정면으로 다루겠다는 방향을 분명히 하고 있다. IAIT가 내세우는 경쟁력은 단발성 행사나 유명 강사 중심 홍보가 아니라, 교육·연구·임상·콘텐츠·출판·미디어가 서로 연결되는 성과 축적형 시스템이다.
정기 학술대회와 연구위원회 활동을 통해 근거를 만들고, 정례 교육과 현장 공유로 재현성을 높이며, 자체 미디어와 출판을 통해 기록을 남겨 외부 신뢰로 전환하는 구조를 운영한다는 점이 특징이다. 이런 구조에서 자격위원회는 “현장 적용 가능한 기준을 문서화하고, 교육 운영의 품질을 일정하게 유지하며, 평가 체계를 통해 ‘같은 결과를 낼 수 있는 교육’으로 만드는 장치”로 기능한다.
이번에 자격위원장으로 위촉된 임은주 원장은 부산에서 ‘임은주쁘라나요가’를 운영하며, 호흡·프라나야마를 기반으로 한 지도와 교육을 지속해 온 현장형 지도자로 알려져 있다. 무엇보다 임 원장은 사단법인 한국치유요가협회(Korea Therapy Yoga Association, KTYA) 부회장 겸 영남권 회장을 맡고 있어, 지역 교육 네트워크를 실제로 운영해 본 경험을 갖춘 인물로 평가된다. 협회 조직 운영과 교육 현장의 언어를 동시에 이해하는 리더십이 이번 위촉의 배경으로 꼽힌다.
한세영학회장은 “자격과정은 ‘과정 개설’ 자체보다, 과정이 끝난 뒤에도 현장에서 동일한 기준으로 지도·상담·적용이 가능하도록 만드는 설계가 핵심”이라며 “임은주 원장은 지역 현장에서 교육·운영을 모두 경험해 온 만큼, 자격체계를 ‘현장에서 작동하는 시스템’으로 정리하는 역할을 맡게 될 것”이라고 설명했다. 실제로 자격위원장 체계가 제대로 작동하려면 커리큘럼 표준화(목표–내용–평가), 강사 운영 기준(자격·역할·지도 범위), 수료·검정 프로토콜(평가 지표·재평가·윤리 기준), 문서화(교재·매뉴얼·운영 지침)까지 하나의 체계로 묶여야 한다. IAIT는 임 위원장 체제에서 이러한 실무 프레임을 우선 정비하고, 학회 내 각 분야 자격과정이 난립하지 않도록 “개설 지원–운영 관리–성과 점검”의 흐름을 확립한다는 계획이다.

The International Association of Integrative Therapy (IAIT) has appointed Lim Eun-joo, Director of Busan-based “Lim Eun-joo Prana Yoga,” as Chair of the Certification Committee, a key position responsible for supporting the launch and overseeing the overall operation of the association’s certification programs. The Chair of the Certification Committee plays a central role in managing the full scope of IAIT’s qualifications across fields—ranging from program approval procedures and curriculum-design support to the refinement of operational standards, education quality control, and the review of assessment and examination systems. In line with IAIT’s push to strengthen standardization in evidence-based integrative therapy, the appointment is widely interpreted as a move to establish a practical control tower for designing and managing a robust certification framework.
According to reporting, IAIT has made it clear that it intends to address, at the organizational level, a recurring issue in the therapy field over recent years: “There are excellent methods, but without standards; and without standards, trust cannot accumulate.” IAIT’s competitiveness, the association emphasizes, does not come from one-off events or publicity centered on celebrity instructors. Rather, it is built on an outcome-accumulating system in which education, research, clinical practice, content production, publishing, and media work are structurally connected.

Lim Eun-joo, the newly appointed Chair, operates “Lim Eun-joo Prana Yoga” in Busan and is known as a field-based leader who has consistently delivered instruction and education grounded in breathwork and pranayama. Notably, she also serves as Vice President and Yeongnam Regional President of the Korea Therapy Yoga Association (KTYA). This dual role is viewed as evidence of her proven experience in operating regional education networks in practice. Observers note that her capacity to understand both association governance and the language of real-world training sites likely influenced IAIT’s decision.
President Han Se-young explained, “The core of certification is not simply launching a program. The key is designing a system so that, even after completion, practitioners can teach, consult, and apply methods in the field using the same standards.” He added, “Because Director Lim has experience in both education and operations at the regional level, she is well positioned to organize IAIT’s qualifications into a system that actually functions in the field.” For a Certification Committee structure to work effectively, IAIT notes, multiple elements must be integrated into a single framework: standardized curricula (goals–content–evaluation), instructor operating standards (eligibility–roles–scope of instruction), completion and examination protocols (evaluation indicators–reassessment–ethics standards), and full documentation (textbooks, manuals, operating guidelines). IAIT plans to prioritize this practical framework under Lim’s leadership and establish a consistent flow of “program launch support–operations management–performance review,” preventing uncontrolled proliferation of certification programs within the association.
The appointment is also seen as a signal that IAIT will more tightly connect “academics” and “certification.” In the therapy industry, qualifications serve as both the entry threshold and a benchmark of trust. However, if standards are loose, certifications can become a double-edged sword that undermines credibility across the sector. IAIT stated that it will not allow certification to remain merely “a training course,” but will structure it to connect to research, academic presentations, and documented content—expanding into a model that accumulates evidence of professionalism.
With Lim Eun-joo’s appointment, IAIT believes it can link its key operational pillars more closely—governance (committees), academics (research), education (regular programs), certification (standards), and media (documentation). Industry observers commonly note that “when a leader who truly understands the field takes charge of certification standards, training quality improves—and higher quality ultimately raises the credibility of the qualification itself.” Attention is now turning to how far IAIT will concretely define and implement “standards for integrative therapy” through its Certification Committee system, and what measurable outcomes its 2026 operations will produce.
